All I Ever Wanted Was Friendship

Sunday, November 26, 2017
“Because I know what it’s like to want a friend. I know what it’s like to wish that someone would care, that someone would notice you, that someone would listen to you, understand you, be there for you. If you want me to, I can be your friend,” the blond said, sounding sincere, honest, and understanding.

short story, philosophical musings, creative writing, dark, depressing themes

As the blond continued to talk, she couldn’t help but start to tear up. “Yes,” she said when he finished speaking. “I’ve always, always wanted a friend.” She was really crying now, tears streaming down her face, but she couldn’t have stopped even if she wanted to.

She wrapped her arms around him, burying her head on his chest and cried. She sobbed loudly, tears continuing to fall down her face as she practically wailed. She even tried to punch him weakly, letting out all her anger and pain and sadness and hurt.

The blond held her tightly, patting her gently on the back. He said nothing, but his presence spoke volumes. He comforted her. He listened to her. He didn’t judge her. He was just there, offering her a shoulder to cry on, his friendship, and it was all she ever wanted.
