Is Your Story Or Novel Going In The Right Direction?

Tuesday, May 08, 2018
Are you writing a story or working on a novel? How's it going? The last post I published on Niume was on October 30, 2016. It was about NaNoWriMo. I haven't been able to log on to Niume until now since I've been busy with a lot of things. One of these things is writing a story. Yep, am doing my own personal NaNoWriMo.

nanowrimo, national novel writing month, fantasy, novel, story, writing
In the story am writing, the main chara gets lost in a forest. He ends up encountering a griffin who tries to kill him.

I'd say it's going pretty well so far. Have been talking a bit about it on Twitter using the #NaNoWriMo, #NaNoWriMo2016, #amwriting and #amwritingfantasy hashtags. Yup, am writing a fantasy story. I've written a few thousand words already, but I've still got a long way to go before I finish the entire thing. I think it might take me more than 50k words.

I hope to be able to write as much as possible for the whole month of November and then be able to continue doing so even after NaNoWriMo ends. So, how 'bout you? If you're writing a story, what genre is it about? How's the plot coming along? What can you say about it? Hope it's going well for you too. Good luck 😃.

Here are some of the comments from this article, back when it used to be posted elsewhere:

Zack Plourd wrote on 6/11/16:
I started a profile on NaNoWriMo, with the intent to write a thing, but I found the site slightly incomprehensible as to how to go about that. It wasn't very clear.

Freya Yuki replied to Zack Plourd on 7/11/16:
The site does have a FAQ (http://nanowrimo.org/faq) and how it works (http://nanowrimo.org/how-it-works) page. Note: you can't actually write your novel on the site. You can just use it to check your word count or get to meet other writers, etc.

Zack Plourd replied to Freya Yuki on 7/11/16:
^see thats the kind of stuff i wasn't clear on. thank you for clarification.

Freya Yuki replied to Zack Plourd on 9/11/16:
You're welcome.

Barbara Ciruelos wrote on 6/11/16:
Good luck! The fact that you´re trying to complete NaNoWriMo is more than impressive. I´ve always been more of a self-time author, to be honest, but every approach is effective as long as it fits your style!

Freya Yuki replied to Barbara Ciruelos on 7/11/16:
Thanks. Am trying to write as much as possible to finish this story.

Who Wants A War?

Monday, October 02, 2017
Also known as, "I will not lose to you," "I will not back down," "What is the Spades King planning?" and "I just don't want my people to get hurt".

Previously, in this series, West told East that the Superhero had the right to interfere while East said that was not the case at all. It looks like neither Superhero is willing to back down and concede that the other is right.
adventure, fantasy, superheroes series, short story, creative writing, fate/stay night, fight, war
East insists that West should not interfere because the issue does not concern the latter. But West is adamant that the issue does have something to do with the western Superhero and, as such, West had every right to interfere.

Now, East wishes to protest against West’s words in the last post, but West raises a hand to stop the eastern Superhero from doing so.

“No,” West says, “Look, East, come on, just wait and listen. The Clubs and Hearts Kingdoms are on the western side of The World, my side, and they're involved too. The other kingdoms near the Visible Demarcation Line are involved too.

“These guys are all worried about the Spades King and what he might do to them. These rulers are just concerned and worried for the safety of their people, our Citizens. They're all scared that there might be a war. They don’t know what the Spades King is planning and they're all wary and afraid. You get that East, don’t ya?”

Get Out Of My Side Of The World

Saturday, August 19, 2017
Also known as, "If I need your help, I'll ask" and "My side, my rules, my way, so don't interfere".

Previously, in this series, we listened to East’s explanation about exactly why West should not interfere on any issues or problems plaguing the eastern kingdoms of The World.

Simply put, those kingdoms are not under West’s jurisdiction, and, therefore, West should not be helping or interfering unless asked to do so by East.

Do you think West gets all that? Well, that’s definitely debatable since, the whole time East was talking and explaining, West looked pretty pissed off like the western Superhero wanted to interrupt and scream angrily at East.

Now, West takes a deep breath and attempts to calm down. Clearly, West is still all for a peaceful discussion and really doesn’t want to blow up at East and fight.

“Look, East,” West says, taking another deep breath. “And, uff, don’t call me 'amber'. I mean, I’m part of this too, okay? My side of The World is totally part of this too, like, seriously, it is.”

Don't You Remember How Things Work In The World?

Monday, June 05, 2017
Also known as, "Here's a reminder, in case you forgot" and "Have you forgotten how things work around here?"

In the last episode of this series, West was interrupted by East before the former could protest upon hearing the eastern Superhero’s suggestion of making sure that the Clubs, Hearts and the other rulers of the kingdoms near the Visible Demarcation Line stop interfering and just let the Diamonds rulers and the Spades King deal with the issue of Fantasia’s ownership by themselves.

Let’s find out what East wants to say.

“Look, Amber,” East says, “Remember that both the Spades and the Diamonds Kingdom are on my side of The World, the eastern side. Any issue or problem that goes on in that part of The World should be left to me to take care of since it is on my side.”

East made sure to put emphasis on ‘my’ to make doubly sure that West would understand. “If you are having any issues in any of your western kingdoms, I also would not interfere unless you ask for my help because those kingdoms are on your side of The World.

"I hope you will also give me the same consideration, Amber. This is part of the rules, as you well know. But I am reminding you, in case you forgot.”

I'm Sorry And Please Don’t Lose Hope

Tuesday, May 30, 2017
I can see it. I can feel it. You’re all suffering. You’re all hurt. It hurt so much, I know. And I’m so sorry because you had nothing to do with this. You’re innocent, you did nothing wrong and yet you’re made to pay for the sins and mistakes of those who are too selfish and self-centered.

You’re being blamed for crimes you didn’t commit. It seems everything that goes wrong in this world is your fault (why, yes, of course, it’s your fault. Who else can we blame for the darkness and the shadows and the illusions that destroy people and threaten to bring about another world war?).
fantasy, adventure, dark themes, depressing themes, philosophical musings, short stories, creative writing, hope
Why is it that the innocent are the ones who have to suffer? They did nothing wrong and yet they have to face the consequences. Everyone is ganging up on you and I’m sorry, but please don’t lose hope.

You may not know it, but there are people who are rooting for you, who wish only for your happiness and for you all to be free from the chains that bind you. Stay united and don’t let these cruel, evil people with their dark, dark abilities get to you. If you keep working together, surely, you can save the world from destruction.

Comments (from back when this used to be posted elsewhere):

Freya (in reply to &maromory):
Yes, it’s good to work together instead of having to do everything yourself. Sometimes, people just need all the help they can get. Sometimes, they can’t do everything by themselves. Sometimes, they just need someone to be there for them. And the world would be a better place with less wars and fighting and violence if everyone would just get along and stop fighting.

Can't We Let Spades And Diamonds Handle Fantasia?

Wednesday, May 24, 2017
Also known as, "Why can't we just let the Spades and Diamonds Kingdoms handle the Fantasia issue without our interference?"

When we last left the 2 Superheroes, East just asked West if the latter would agree to settling the ownership of Fantasia in a peaceful and diplomatic way without starting a war over the issue.

What will West say to that? Do you think West will agree? Or is West going to protest? Let’s find out.
Cardfight!! Vanguard TCG card game, anime, amber dragon, dusk, adventure, fantasy, superheroes series, creative writing, short stories
West considers East’s words for a moment before nodding. “Yeah,” West agrees. “I do want things to be resolved peacefully. I totally don’t want a war either, East.”

East smiles at that and is pleased to see West return the smile. “That is good to hear, Amber. Then you will let the Diamonds rulers and the Spades King take care of this matter by themselves and not let the Clubs and Hearts and the other rulers of the kingdoms near the Visible Demarcation Line interfere with this issue?”

West frowns upon hearing that. “Wait, what? But-” West started to say, but East was quick to interrupt and interject.

Can We Please Not Start A War Over This?

Friday, May 12, 2017
Also known as, "Let’s leave this issue to the ones who are really involved" and "Just leave the Fantasia issue to the Spades and Diamonds Kingdom."

Sick of East’s monologue? Eh, that’s okay. If you are, you’ll be pleased to know it’s finally done. Let’s get back to the conversation between the 2 Superheroes.

“Is it really?” West shot back, in response to East’s words saying that the western Superhero was being absurd (remember that part?). “And don’t call me 'azure'.”
Cardfight!! Vanguard TCG card game, anime, amber dragon, dusk, adventure, fantasy, superheroes series, creative writing, short stories
West’s fists clenched, clearly starting to get really angry though visibly trying to remain calm and in control. West’s lip is bitten as if in refusal to say something that would just cause them to fight.

East is also not keen on starting a fight. “Look, all right, Amber, let’s just say that the issue of Fantasia’s ownership isn’t over yet. There is no need to start a war over this, Amber.”

“This issue is between the Spades Kingdom and the Diamonds Kingdom. They can resolve this peacefully, talk about what will happen with Fantasia and have the people of Fantasia be there to help make a decision. Is that acceptable to you, Amber?” East asks.

Wish You Could See The Truth As I See It

Sunday, April 30, 2017
Also known as, "Why can't you see the truth?" and "It hurts, but it's okay, I understand."

No, East is not yet done with the inner monologue or thoughts. So let’s hop to it and hear what else the eastern Superhero has to say. East wishes that the people who listened to all these media could be more discerning and objective and unbiased.

If they could just go to Fantasia or anywhere in the Spades Kingdom or even just take the time to listen to the Spades media, then they could see the truth for themselves. East wishes to take West there so the latter could see as well.
adventure, fantasy, superheroes series, short story, creative writing
Of course, East had been to Fantasia and to the Spades Kingdom and had spoken to various people over there. That’s how the Superhero knew the truth.

It saddened East that West would think the former hadn’t actually bothered to research and confirm the truth about what was really happening. It hurt to think that West would believe that East would just blindly believe whatever the Spades King says and that the Superhero wouldn’t bother to check and confirm the facts.

But East understood that the blame wasn’t entirely on West. It was only natural for West to feel for the western Citizens, to believe them and listen to them. East would have done the same for the eastern Citizens and would have also found it hard to be objective.

Is The Media Lying To You?

Tuesday, April 18, 2017
Also known as, "You're a lying liar who lies" and "Why is the media lying to you?"

Previously, in this series, we got some more information about Fantasia and the people there as well as East’s thoughts about the situation. Let’s see what else the eastern Superhero has to say about this.

Since the people of Fantasia said they liked being part of the Spades Kingdom and had no intentions of ever going back to the Diamonds Kingdom, the kingdoms near the Visible Demarcation Line (including Diamonds, Clubs and Hearts) kept releasing false information and saying that all this was mere lies and propaganda.
adventure, fantasy, superheroes series, short story, creative writing
Because, apparently, the people of Fantasia are just being forced by the Spades King to say they like their new life or else they will get in trouble. And, apparently, Fantasia people don’t have a choice and must lie and say they love the Spades Kingdom otherwise they will be hurt.

The media and the people disseminating this information were being completely ridiculous, if you ask East.

East really has to wonder how anyone could believe such ridiculous and farfetched notions. Oh, what lies the media resorts to! How horrible, no?

Listen To Truth, Not Lies

Thursday, April 06, 2017
Also known as, "The media is lying to you," "Stop listening to all this propaganda," and "Ridiculous notions".

In the last episode of this series, West’s ridiculous words caused East to sigh and face-palm and stare at the former in utter disbelief. What is East thinking about now? What will happen now?

East sighs yet again, wishing that West would stop listening to all the western media out there. Everyone that was against the Spades King was really blaming everything on him, saying crazy things like that about Fantasia and disseminating all this information and propaganda.
adventure, fantasy, superheroes series, short story, creative writing
Really, was it possible to threaten an entire group or city or town full of people and make them lie on whether or not they wanted to be with the Spades Kingdom?

In the first place, if the people of Fantasia didn’t like what the Spades Kingdom was doing to them, they could just rebel. What was stopping them from rebelling? After all, that was exactly what they did when they didn’t like how the Diamonds rulers were treating them.

Considering that they're now living peacefully in Fantasia and aren’t trying to rebel against the rule of the Spades Kingdom, doesn’t that mean they're being treated properly enough and are pretty satisfied or content with their new way of life?

How Do I Know You're Not Lying To Me?

Saturday, March 25, 2017
Also known as, "How do I know what I'm seeing is real?" or "Believe what you see, but what if it's all lies?"

Previously, in this series, East readily and willingly offers to bring West to Fantasia and even to the Spades Kingdom so the latter could see what is really going on and find out for sure who is telling the truth and who is lying.

Well, you know what they say, ‘seeing is believing’. You never know who’s lying or not so it’s best to confirm this for yourself, no? Let’s see what West has to say about that:
adventure, fantasy, superheroes series, short story, creative writing
West’s lip is bitten. It looks like the Superhero is actually considering the offer. Maybe. “Uh, they're not gonna lie, are they? I mean, they're not being threatened to say or to pretend that they like being part of the Spades Kingdom?

"Or, like, maybe they're just saying all these nice stuff so they won’t get in trouble or something,” West says, sounding concerned and unsure.

East stares at West in complete and utter disbelief before promptly face-palming and then sighing. “Azure, that is absurd,” East started to say.

Let's Take A Trip To Fantasia

Oh, hey, look, seems like the tension between East and West is rising. Again. Wonder what’s gonna happen now?

They're both trying not to snap at each other and to just stay calm, but it’s unclear how long that’s going to last.

Previously, West demanded to know if East thinks that the people from the kingdoms that were against the Spades King were actually lying when they explained the situation to the Superhero.

East quickly backtracked and shook his head. “No, Azure. I only meant that, perhaps, they might be mistaken-” East abruptly stopped and backtracked again.

“Ah, no, I mean, would it not be better if you confirm this yourself? If you go to Fantasia and speak to all the people there, then you will know the truth for sure, yes?”

West frowns. “I’m not welcome in Fantasia or in the Spades Kingdom.” The western Superhero eventually said after a moment of silence.

“I can take you there myself, Azure,” East offers.

Don't Know What To Believe In Anymore

Tuesday, February 28, 2017
Also known as, "How do I know who is lying to me?" and "How do I know who is telling me the truth?"

Previously, in this series, West claimed that the people in Fantasia didn’t really want to be one with Spades Kingdom. Apparently, there was some vote-rigging and who knows what else going on over there. But, is that really true? What does East have to say about that?

superheroes series, writing, short story, adventure, fantasy, Cardfight!! Vanguard TCG card game, anime, falcon knight of the azure
East frowns at hearing West’s words in the previous post, starting to get angry, but trying to remain calm. “And how are you knowing this for sure, Azure? Have you spoken to the people in Fantasia?”

“Or did you just hear this from the western kingdoms and their media and even from the Diamonds rulers as well as from those nearby kingdoms that are clearly against Spades Kingdom and would undoubtedly want to present the Spades King in a bad light?”

East tried hard not to make the words sound like an accusation, but it’s unclear whether that was successful or not.

West scowls. “Are you saying that they lied to me?” The words were said in a snapping tone of voice, a hint of anger lacing them.

Does Fantasia Really Want To Be With The Spades Kingdom?

Thursday, February 16, 2017
In the last episode of this series, we just found out from East that the people in Fantasia apparently chose to separate from the Diamonds Kingdom and become a part of the Spades Kingdom instead.

But if that’s the truth, then what exactly is the problem? If the people of Fantasia were the ones who made the decision, then what is there to complain about? It’s their life. Shouldn’t they have the right to be able to choose as they see fit?

superheroes series, writing, short story, adventure, fantasy
West believes that the people of Fantasia didn't
really vote to be with the Spades Kingdom. Is this true?

It looks like we’re still missing a lot of details when it comes to this story, so let’s see what else we can learn in this post.

“Uff, don’t call me Sapphire,” West says, in response to East’s words in the previous post. West frowns, almost, but not quite, scowling or perhaps that facial expression was actually a pout. “And that so-called unanimous vote was totally rigged.”

“Spa-” West started to say before quickly stopping. “Someone,” there was emphasis on the word and you could practically see and hear it being italicized, “Obviously rigged the results and made it seem like the people of Fantasia wanted to be one with the Spades Kingdom. But that’s, like, totally, completely not true at all.”

Why Did Fantasia Leave The Diamonds Kingdom?

Saturday, February 04, 2017
Also known as, "The reason why Fantasia decided to be one with the Spades Kingdom?"

In the last episode of this series, we were able to find out that the Diamonds Queen and the Spades King were actually siblings and Fantasia originally belonged to the Spades Kingdom, but it was now a part of the Diamonds Kingdom.

superheroes series, writing, short story, adventure, fantasy
The Diamonds Queen was actually the sister of the Spades King

East interrupted West’s explanation in the previous post, so now let’s listen to what the former has to say about this topic.

“Yes, that’s right, Sapphire,” East says. “But, for whatever reason-” East deliberately chose not to state anything specific, hoping to reason with West and not get into a fight.

The people in Fantasia, comprising of both the Spades and Diamonds Citizens, as well as some minorities from the other kingdoms, all voted unanimously to become one with the Spades Kingdom again,” East explains.

“They all wished to return and be a part of the Spades Kingdom again,” East clarifies in case West didn’t get the words. “You cannot deny that, Sapphire.”

The Real Owner Of Fantasia

Monday, January 23, 2017
Previously, in this series, West just admitted that Fantasia actually does belong to the Spades Kingdom.

If that’s the case and even West knows that, then why does West want the Spades King to return Fantasia to the Diamonds Kingdom? Why would West side with the Diamonds rulers?

“But,” West says, adding to what the Superhero said in the last post, "The Diamonds Queen is the older sister of the Spades King. She’s originally from the Spades Kingdom.

When the Diamonds Queen got married, her father gave away Fantasia as her dowry

"When she got married to the Diamonds King, her father, the former Spades King, gave away Fantasia to the Diamonds Kingdom as her dowry. So, Fantasia is now part of-"

West is interrupted by East, but before we listen to whatever East says, now would be a good time to note that Fantasia is actually located in between the Spades Kingdom and the Diamonds Kingdom.

If you cross this land, you can get to the other kingdom and vice versa. In short, the kingdoms of Spades and Diamonds share a border via Fantasia.

You Can't Save The World

Tuesday, January 17, 2017
Hey, are you really all that arrogant that you think you can easily save the world all on your own? You’re powerful, yes, but not that powerful.

Your strength and your magic aren't enough to save the world. You can’t do it alone and that’s a fact. What makes you think that you can?

short stories, philosophical musings, writing, fantasy, adventure
Even with all your magic and powers, do you really think you can save the world on your own?

Why are you so smug and full of yourself? It’s not cute at all, you know? It’s annoying. Why do you push me away? Why do you insist on working on your own?

Your magic isn’t strong enough. Don’t delude yourself into thinking that it is. Why do you have to antagonize me all the time? Why can’t we work together?

I know we haven’t always gotten along. I know we have our differences, our fights. Oh, those horrid, terrible fights.

Remember how they all thought the world was going to end thanks to us (yes, yes, that’s how powerful we are with our magical weapons and our magical abilities)?

But we can be friends. We can get along. You and I both know that. But, perhaps you’ve forgotten? Have you forgotten our friendship?

What Is Fantasia?

Saturday, January 14, 2017
In the last episode of this series, West talks about Fantasia, saying something about asking the Spades King to give back Fantasia to the Diamonds Kingdom.

But what exactly is going on though? What did the Spades King do? Why did he take Fantasia? Did he really take Fantasia? Did the Diamonds Kingdom do anything to get the Spades King to take Fantasia?

superheroes series, adventure, fantasy, short story, writing
But, before we find out more, let’s start with clarifying exactly what Fantasia is. Simply put, Fantasia is the name of a piece of land or town or city or, eh, you get the point.

Anyway, let’s get back to East and West’s conversation.

East frowns somewhat upon hearing West’s words in the previous post, but the superhero tries to remain calm. After all, they'd agreed to talk about these things in a peaceful manner.

“Look, Sapphire, Fantasia originally belonged to the Spades Kingdom, all right? This is fact. You know this, don’t you?” East says.

West frowns a bit at hearing that, but still tries to talk things over and remain calm, trying not to snap in anger. “Uh-huh." West nods.

I Forgive You, I'm Not Mad At You

Sunday, January 08, 2017
Also known as, "Hey, East, don't get mad, but, Diamonds called and they want Fantasia back."

In the last episode of this series, we saw how worried West was at unintentionally saying something that might cause the 2 Superheroes to fight. Again. Needless to say, West was hoping that East would let the matter go and that the latter would not get angry. What will East do?

superheroes series, adventure, fantasy, writing, short story
East nods at West, smiling slightly and letting West’s slip of the tongue go because East saw that West clearly didn’t mean to say that. West was even smiling apologetically, so East just says, “Yes.”

West grins at that, looking very pleased. The western Superhero looks almost like their usual cheerful self again.

“Great, why don’t we start with Fantasia then? Can’t you get the Spades King to return Fantasia to the Diamonds Kingdom?” West asks, without trying to make the words into an accusation.

West was not blaming East for anything, was merely asking the Superhero to help. Not wanting to make East mad, West quickly backtracks and adds, “You know, ‘cause Fantasia does belong to Diamonds Kingdom, right?” West smiles and hopes that East isn’t mad.

Please Don’t Start A Fight, I Really Didn’t Mean To Say That, Can You Forgive Me?

Also known as, "You did not see that. You did not hear that. Ignore this mistake, please" and "Mistake? What mistake?"

When we last left our Superheroes, East had just spoken and asked West if the 2 could stop fighting and just talk and try to settle their problems in a peaceful and diplomatic way. What does West have to say to that? Will West agree?

West nods in agreement and in response to East’s words in the previous post. “Okay, I agree, but don’t call me 'Blueberry.' Let’s talk. I don’t wanna fight either, East.

“And the rulers of the Clubs Kingdom and the Hearts Kingdom and the others near the Visible Demarcation Line, they want peaceful negotiations too, but, well, Spades, I mean some people-” West abruptly stopped talking and amended the words that were supposed to be spoken.

“I mean, it’s hard to settle things peacefully ‘cause of all the fights and tensions, but we can work something out, yeah?” West smiles, hoping East will let the unintentional slip of the tongue go. The Superhero didn’t mean to say that and West really didn’t want to fight with East.
